Pulaski Area Annual Dinner Meeting of October 28th, 2009
Chris Jaworski, our president, began with a prayer before the
meal. The meal featured Roz l` Kury (Chicken Soup) and Czarnina (Duck
Soup) followed by a complete Chicken/cabbage roll dinner.
After the dinner Chris introduced the guests: Emil and Gladys
Vandermause, Frank and Marlene Berna, Myron and Carol Karcz, Brenda and
Bob Bryfczynski, Tony Hieronimczak, Jim and Helen Zajac. He also
thanked John Ulmer and Carol Bieda for preparing the meal and the
Brzeczkowski family for their polka music before dinner. Their 3 boys
were a hit.
Our officers and board were introduced. Secretary-Bea Valley,
Treasurer-Theresa Bialozynski, Curator-Marian Schroeder, Vice
President- Pat Budz and President Chris Jaworski. Board members whose
term was up this year were Richard Hodkiewicz, John Wendzikowski and
Mary Kurzynski. These three did not seek reelection. The 2008 -2010
members: Tammy Brzeczkowski, Robert Budz and John Mihalko. The
2009-2011 members: Sharon Bauer, Larry Puzen and Harry Slezewski.
A motion to dispense from reading last year secretary’s report
was made by Wally Kroll and seconded by Larry Puzen. Also a motion to
dispense with the reading of the treasurer’s report was made by Larry
Puzen and seconded by Mike Maroszek. Both motions carried
Candidates Diane Wichlacz, Noreen Heuser, and Jim Zajac were
presented for the 2010 to 2013 terms. Larry Puzen made a motion to close the
nominations and Bob Budz seconded the motion to close the nominations
and cast a unanious ballot for the slate of the three candidates. Motion passed. The
three nominees were automatically elected.
Marian Schroeder gave an update of all the people that asked for
her specific help. She spent a lot of time searching for the requested
information.
Chris gave an update on what is happening with the stone barn
renovation and restoration.
Pat gave a summary of the spring and fall hours and those
volunteers that helped keep the museum running smoothly. One big
improvement took place upstairs. Artifacts were rearranged. There is
still a lot of work that needs to be done upstairs,
The local preservation reward was given to Amy Swiecichowski for
her restoration of the Hofa Park Tavern that was established in 1883.
It had many uses.
Richard Hodkiewicz and Bea Valley were recognized for their
years of service to the Historical Society. Each was given a plaque.
Pam Jansen was introduced by Chris. She gave a history
presentation of the family business started by her grand parents, Ray
and Mary Marnocha in 1933. Ray died at the age of 45 and Mary
continued to run the funeral parlor with the help of Green Bay
embalmers. Mike her father took over the business and she joined him
in 1977. Her dad retired in 1994 and she now is owner with many
helpers. Pam gave an interesting presentation.
At 8:55 PM Bob Joswick made a motion to end the meeting and Bob
Budz seconded the motion. Door prizes were then given out.
